Monomoy’s Nancy Gifford Named Massachusetts Science Teacher of the Year

HARWICH – The Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers has selected Monomoy Regional Middle School teacher Nancy Gifford as the 2018 recipient of the State Science Educator of the Year Award.

This award was created to recognize persons making outstanding contributions to science education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Science Educator of the Year Award honors Gifford’s significant accomplishment in science education, locally and statewide, and recognizes her as a role model in science education for other educators.

Gifford teaches Grade 7 science at Monomoy Middle School and leads the school’s Robotics Team. She was a prior recipient of the MAST County Science Educator of the Year Awards, and participates in numerous collaborative partnerships with science-based educational organizations, including NASA, WGBH, PBS Learning Media, The NEED Project, and more.

Gifford was honored at an awards ceremony November 1, 2018, as part of the MAST annual conference.
