WOODS HOLE – The Steamship Authority has put the M/V Martha’s Vineyard back into service after the Coast Guard cleared the vessel to return to its regular route between Woods Hole and Martha’s Vineyard.

The M/V Martha’s Vineyard had a breaker trip Wednesday, sidelining the vessel while repairs were made. The issue came up while the M/V Woods Hole is also out of service due to mechanical problems, forcing the boat line to cancel a large number of vehicle reservations.

With the return of the M/V Martha’s Vineyard, the Steamship Authority has reopened standby vehicle travel to and from Martha’s Vineyard.

The boat line will still charter a passenger-only vessel from SeaStreak through Monday to run high-speed service from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven on an hourly basis.

Both the M/V Martha’s Vineyard and the M/V Woods Hole were out of service last week and returned from repairs this week before breaking down again.

“We apologize for all of the disruptions to our customers lives and businesses that have been caused by these events, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available,” the Steamship Authority wrote on their website.
