CENTERVILLE – There was an increase in residential building activity on Cape Cod last month, according to the latest statistics from the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod.
There were 462 residential building permits issued in February, valuing just over $37 million. That represents an increase in nearly $5 million over what was spent in February 2017. There were 150 more permits issued in 2018 compared to 2017.
426 of the permits issued in February 2018 were for remodels, a jump from 275 remodeling projects in February 2017. The average remodeling cost was $61,898, up just $223 from the previous year.
The remaining 36 permits were for new building projects, averaging at $297,760. There were 32 new construction projects in February 2017, with an average cost of $383,514.
There were no new rebuilding projects on Cape Cod in February of 2018.
