Multiple Beaches Temporarily Closed after Shark Sightings Sunday

NORTH TRURO – Multiple beaches have been closed temporarily closed this afternoon following shark sightings.

According the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Sharktivity app, Nauset Public Beach in Orleans was closed to swimming around 12:45 p.m. after a shark was spotted a few miles south of the beach swimming north.

The beach was closed for an hour.

White Crest Beach in Wellfleet was also closed around 12:45 p.m. after a confirmed sighting of a 9- to 10-foot shark by lifeguards.

Cape Cod National Seashore officials also closed Head of the Meadow Beach to swimming for an hour after a sighting at 12:05 p.m.

Nauset Public Beach and Head of the Meadow Beach were two of several closed briefly Saturday due to shark activity.
