BARNSTABLE – Legislation that makes language clearer as to the length of terms for Barnstable Town Council and how to fill vacancies recently passed the House and Senate and was signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker.
The legislation was the first from 2nd Barnstable State Representative Will Crocker and will go before voters at the November 7th General Election.
“I have seen these proposed changes all the way through the legislative process,” said Crocker. “I am very happy that task is finished and the voter of Barnstable will now have the opportunity to vote on them in November.”
The proposed changes will also make the Town Collector’s position an appointed position, rather than an elected one, with said appointing done by the Town Manager.
