Martha’s Vineyard Community Services Gears up for 40th Annual Possible Dreams Auction

OAK BLUFFS – The Possible Dreams Auction to benefit Martha’s Vineyard Community Services will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary this weekend.

Making a comeback this year is Fund-a-Need, which gives bidders the opportunity to raise their paddles to donate at a level that is comfortable to them in order to help solve a pressing issue on Martha’s Vineyard.

“What began as a few concerned individuals with the desire to raise money for the Island has grown into an event known both nationally and internationally,” said Jessica Rogers, MVCS Development Coordinator.

“People from all over, each with a special connection to Martha’s Vineyard, donate unique, on-of-a-kind opportunities for live, super, and silent auctions or raffle.”

This year’s Fund-a-Need will support suicide prevention efforts throughout the island.

MVCS’ Island Counseling Center and emergency services team act as first responders in crisis situations to help prevent these incidents and aid in the wide-spread trauma that occurs.

“As a lifelong Vineyard resident, I strongly believe in supporting the Island’s programs that make a positive and noticeable impact in the community.” said Ernie Boch, Jr., the presenting sponsor of this year’s auction.

“Together, we can make a difference for Islanders in need and make dreams come true.”

Some favorite returning Dreams from recent years include a Seth Meyers New York Experience with a meet and greet and VIP taping of Late Night with Seth Meyers, and a Fireworks Dream including dinner for 10 in Offshore Ale’s private dining room overlooking Ocean Park.

“It is true that our Live Auction Dream packages raise thousands of dollars each for MVCS,” said Rogers, “but at the Possible Dreams Auction there is something for everyone, and every contribution makes a difference.”

Admission to the auction is $25; raffle tickets sell for $10; and silent auction dream packages are valued as low as $50. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mvcommunityservices.com/possibledreams or the day of the event.

This year’s Possible Dreams Auction is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Winnetu Oceanside Resort in Katama.
