VINEYARD HAVEN – In an effort to increase available care for clients with substance abuse issues, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services opened an Island Intervention Center and Suboxone Clinic on the island, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday.
The intervention center will provide a triage system for urgent care, emergency services, brief interventions, assessments and immediate access to appropriate services for both mental health and substance abuse issues, according to a statement from Community Services.
“The goal is to provide mental health services urgently in a safe place that will also allow for immediate access to other clinical services offered by MVCS,” said David Araujo, Island Intervention Center Director.
MVCS is expanding the range of options available for people needing substance use disorder services including Suboxone, a Medical Assisted Treatment for opioid addiction.
In addition to Suboxone, MVCS offers Vivitrol, used for alcohol and drug addiction; the New Paths Intensive Outpatient Program and Recovery Coaching.
These resources are available to currently enrolled clients and require on-site behavioral health counseling in addition to medication management.
