MVCS to Hold Annual Possible Dreams Auction

EDGARTOWN – Residents and visitors on the Vineyard will gather todaqy for a major fundraising event to benefit Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.

The 38th annual Art Buchwald Possible Dreams Auction will be heldat the Winnetu Oceanside Resort in Edgartown at 3:30 p.m.

Martha’s Vineyard Community Services assists island families with the day-to-day challenges of life through six programs which provide accessible education and health and human services.

The event will offer 25 live dreams, 16 super silent dreams and 60 silent dreams auction items and a raffle.

Auction items include a 10 day stay in Burgundy, France for 8, A fishing trip honoring Olga Hirshhorn and two tickets to a taping of Late Night with Seth Meyers.

“We typically raise right around $450,000 and the monies that are raised goes directly to the unfunded care of the six programs,” said Liza Cowan May. “This is a fundraiser that is essential in order for these programs to sustain and support the needs of these here in our community.”

Over the years, the auction has attracted national coverage because of the celebrities and other notables who attend the auction and donate “dreams” to benefit the cause.
