OAK BLUFFS – Martha’s Vineyard Community Services is gearing up for their second ‘Low Numbered Charitable Online Auction’ this September.

“The plates that will be up for bid are all of those that were not sold in auction one or the pre-sale that just took place, so it is a total of 84 plates that are up for bid. Plates 1-5 and 100 will not be included, as they are being reserved for a future auction,” said Mary Korba, communications manager for MVCS.

Each plate has a starting bid based on demand and will be awarded to the highest bidder. Plates are also available via the “buy it now,” option for $10,000.

Over the past three years, more than 2,500 plates have been sold since the program’s inception, generating over $100,000 for MVCS.

“What’s great about this license plate program is that it reaches beyond community services. From the beginning, one of our main goals of this program was to make the plate an ‘all island plate’ with funding reaching beyond community services to help support other island non-profits,” said Korba.

***Previously sold plates include: MV7, MV9, MV11, MV13, MV14, MV21, MV27, MV33, MV66, MV88, MV94, and MV99
