NANTUCKET – The Nantucket Cottage Hospital’s Board of Trustees has appointed Jeanette Ives Erickson, RN, DNP, as the interim President and CEO of the hospital, effective September 1st.
Dr. Ives Erickson is chief nurse emerita at Massachusetts General Hospital, an instructor at Harvard Medical School, and professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
She also serves as the chair of the Chief Nurse Council for Partners Healthcare.
“Dr. Ives Erickson is very familiar with NCH, as she has had a presence at the hospital since March 2018, when she began consulting with our senior leadership team,” said Kevin Hickey, chair of the NCH Board of Trustees.
“In that role, Dr. Ives Erickson has enhanced our relationship with our affiliate, Mass General, and assisted us in leveraging MGH resources to benefit the island.
She has become a major contributing member of the hospital leadership, and a trusted friend to (current President) Margot Hartmann as she has steered us to a safe and productive transition into our new hospital.”
As planned, Dr. Hartman will step down as President and CEO of NCH at the end of August.
Dr. Ives Erickson will remain in the interim CEO position until Hartman’s successor is in place in the near future.
Dr. Ives Erickson earned her diploma in nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, her BSN from Westbrook College, her MS from Boston University, and her doctorate of executive nursing practice from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
She has published three books to advance nursing practice, research, and the importance of a narrative culture.
In addition, as part of the MGH celebration of its 200th anniversary, she and colleagues published the History of MGH Nursing, all of her books have won awards.
