NANTUCKET – The Nantucket Historical Association has announced the return of Mystic Seaport’s Don Sineti for two drawing workshops and a family concert this July at the Whaling Museum on Broad Street.
Sineti has been a folksinger, songwriter, banjo picker, and part-time sea chanteyman at the historic Mystic Seaport museum for over twenty years.
He has performed at a variety of venues in the United States and abroad, and is known for his deep, booming voice.
Sineti is also an award-winning artist, and his work has been featured in museums and publications alike.
On July 19, and July 20 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sineti will give a family workshop entitled “Drawn to Whales,” in which he uses art and music to teach children of all ages about whales and how to draw them.
This workshop will take place in the Whaling Museum’s Discovery Room and is free for NHA members or with regular museum admission.
Also on July 20, Sineti will perform “Sea Songs and American Classics,” an evening concert for families using traditional instruments to share sailors’ songs and chanteys that chronicle life on the high seas.
The concert will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Whaling Museum.
Tickets are $5 per person, free for children under the age of two and available at the door.
