NANTUCKET – A Nantucket tradition of celebrating autumn and agricultural abundance continues next weekend With the Nantucket Historical Association’s 17th Annual Harvest Fair.
Celebrating the season dates back to the mid-19th century as the first Harvest Fair was held in 1865.
This year’s event will be held Saturday, October 15 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Old Mill on Prospect Street.
The Harvest Fair offers attendees several family-friendly activities and a look back at the island’s agricultural past.
NHA staff will lead guided tours inside the Old Mill and explain its operation. The Old Mill was built in 1746 and is the oldest, continuously operating windmill in the country.
The Harvest Fair will also include arts and crafts and pumpkin painting.
Fall inspired food and drinks like apples, apple cider and corn bread donated by the Nantucket Bake Shop will be served.
Admission to the fair is $5 per child and free for accompanying adults.
Harvest Fair is supported in part by a grant from the M.S. Worthington Foundation and the Nantucket Cultural Council.
