Nantucket Voters Approve Additional Fire Station Funding

NANTUCKET – Voters on Nantucket have approved additional funding for the construction of the town’s new $18 million fire station.

An extra $2.9 million was needed to cover the costs associated with the project. The funding was approved in a 423-171 vote.

Just 6 percent of registered voters on the island turned out for the special town election.

The majority of the money for the new station had already been approved at previous town elections and town meetings.
