NANTUCKET – The Nantucket Historical Association will be resuming the fall Food for Thought lecture series next week.
The seminars will feature presenters from businesses, organizations, and public-interest groups from Nantucket and elsewhere regarding the island’s rich culture.
The forums’ October Speakers will include newly appointed NHA Gosnell Executive Director James Russell, who will touch on his own experiences working in the maritime history field.
Mary Longacre will speak to attendees about the challenges of buying a 1957 American LaFrance fire engine nicknamed “Spunky” that served Nantucket for over twenty-five years, and how she has worked to get the antique fire engine restored and running today.
The program is expected to resume on Thursday, October 19th. The free community discussions are presented on Thursdays from Noon to 1 P.M. at the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street. Audience members are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch.
