National Seashore Ranger Walks to Focus on Wildlife, History

View from the Salt Pond Visitors Center in Eastham

EASTHAM – The calendar officially changed from fall to winter earlier this week and the transition provides opportunities to explore unique aspects of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

A few ranger programs this week will focus on wildlife and the history of the area.

Wildlife in the Seashore will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Attendees will join a park ranger and look for animal life and signs around fields, woods and wetlands. The walk is about a mile and lasts and hour.

Wildlife in the Seashore meets at the lower parking lot at Fort Hill in Eastham.

A Salt Pond Stroll will be held the following day at 1 p.m. from the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham.

The stroll is a leisurely one-hour, one-mile walk along the shoreline of Salt Pond where participants can explore thousands of years of settlement.

Those who attend are asked to dress warmly in layers, along with bringing water and binoculars.

If there is inclement weather, contact the Salt Pond Visitor Center to see if the program is canceled.
