National Seashore to Discuss Climate Change Impacts on Kettle Ponds

View from the Salt Pond Visitors Center in Eastham

EASTHAM – A program will be held by the Cape Cod National Seashore Tuesday night to look at how climate change is affecting the region.

The seashore’s Plant Ecologist Dr. Stephen Smith will present data showing a significant increase in temperatures of kettle ponds, along with a decrease in acidity, and what that means for the overall health of the ponds.

The program is at 7 p.m. at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. It is part of the “Tuesday Nights at Salt Pond” series, which is held weekly through July and August.

The programs are free, fully accessible and suitable for guests of all ages.
