National Seashore to Host Free School Vacation Activities

EASTHAM – The Cape Cod National Seashore will host several free family activities during school vacation week at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham beginning Saturday.

Explore and Learn tables are available daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Topics for the hands-on, self-directed activities range from seals and shells, to butterflies and horseshoe crabs.

Several movies will also be screened on a theater-sized screen with surround sound. Screenings include “March of the Penguins” on February 17; “Disneynature’s Earth” on February 18; “Fly Away Home” on February 19; and “Moby Dick” on February 24.

All movies will be shown at 1:30 p.m.

A “Skip the Straw” presentation on reducing plastic waste is Thursday, February 21 at 1 p.m. Director of CARE for the Cape and Islands will discuss plastic pollution and how we can help to reduce it.

Wildlife art by John Myjak will also be on display throughout the month. A gallery reception will also be held February 16 from 1 to 3 p.m.
