WELLFLEET – Staff and researchers with the Cape Cod National Seashore will close out the month with several special programs focused on seashore resources and history.
“Night Patrol and the Orionids at Old Harbor” will be held Sunday, October 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Race Point Bathhouse in Provincetown.
Participants will join Ranger Jody Anastasio to enjoy the sunset and maybe catch the Orionid meteor shower if the skies are clear. The program will explore the lives of the surfmen at Old Harbor Life-Saving Station.
The Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham will host “Bats of Cape Cod” on Sunday, October 28 from 2 to 3 p.m. The program will be led by researchers currently surveying bat populations in the national seashore. Attendees are also invited to join the bat team at the Nauset Bicycle Trail for a short walk and survey.
October programs conclude with “A Fresh Look at the Great Island Tavern Site” on October 30 at 9:30 a.m. National Seashore Historian Bill Burke will lead a two-hour hike to explore the stories of the 1690s archeological site.
