Nauset Beach ORV Closure Announced

ORLEANS – A section of Nauset Beach will be closed down to off-road vehicle traffic this week to protect endangered piping plovers.

Town officials announced that Nauset Beach South will be shut down to over-sand vehicles at noon on Friday due to unfledged plover chicks in the area.

Self-contained vehicles staying on the beach overnight on Thursday are asked to leave by noon on Friday.

It is not yet known when the section of the beach will be re-opened.
