Nautical Antiques Show to Kickoff Scrimshaw Weekend in New Bedford

New Bedford Whaling MuseumNEW BEDFORD – The 7th annual Nautical Antiques Show will be held this month at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

The show is Friday, May 13 from noon to 5 p.m. in the museum’s new Harbor View Gallery.

The event features high quality marine antiques including scrimshaw, nautical instruments and tools, whaling logbooks, ship models, photos, paintings, prints, and more.

Almost 20 dealers will be on hand from the New England states of Massachusetts, Maine and Rhode Island, along with sellers from Texas and the UK.

The show is the kickoff event for the 28th annual Scrimshaw Weekend at the Whaling Museum which runs from May 13 to 15.

Regular admission to the Antiques Show is free with paid admission to the museum, and for Scrimshaw Weekend registrants and museum members.

Guests will also be able to enter the show an hour early for an additional $5.

Museum admission is $16 for adults, $14 for seniors 65 or older, $9 for college students, $6 for youth and free for children 3 and under.

Scrimshaw Weekend is the world’s only regular forum where collectors, dealers, curators and whaling history enthusiasts gather to share their interest in the shipboard art of whalers.
