BARNSTABLE – Cape Cod will be hit by a wave of bitterly cold temperatures and high winds that will lead to near record lows and wind chills well below zero this weekend.
A wind advisory is in effect from 11 am Saturday to 4 pm Sunday with a wind chill watch in effect from tomorrow afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
Wind gusts Saturday could reach over 50 miles per hour. Isolated power outages are possible due to tree damage.
The air temperature Saturday night into Sunday morning could fall to 5 below zero, with wind chill readings 25-30 below zero. Officials say those conditions can bring on frostbite in 10-15 minutes.
The region was hit by a blast of below zero wind chills Friday morning. A storm Friday night could bring 2-4 inches of snowfall for parts of the Cape and the Islands, mostly the Outer Cape and Nantucket.
