Barnstable’s Needy, Elderly Get Help With Taxes

BARNSTABLE – The Town of Barnstable has decided to participate in a state law that assists low income and elderly property owners with their tax bills.

Property owners will now be able to voluntarily check off an option on their tax bills and indicate how much the taxpayer wants to contribute to a fund that then awards the money to those who need it.

The funds are distributed to needy individuals through an annual award process, where recipients need to meet eligibility requirements and complete and submit an application. Applications are available at the Barnstable Senior Center, on the Town of Barnstable website or the Treasurer’s Office.

Applications will be accepted through November 30th and the awards will be announced December 31st.
