MayoBARNSTABLE – The incoming superintendent of schools in Barnstable was in town last week meeting with local officials and students.

Meg Mayo-Brown met with Barnstable Town Manager Tom Lynch to discuss the school system and the town’s finances. She also participated in Read Across America Day at Barnstable United Elementary School.

Mayo-Brown comes to Barnstable from the Fall River school system, where she serves as superintendent. Late last year, Mayo-Brown finalized a four-year contract with the Barnstable School Committee. Her annual salary is $200,000.

Former superintendent Mary Czajkowsski left the position last year to become superintendent in Lexington. Bill Butler, the district’s attorney, is serving as interim superintendent.

Mayo-Brown begins the position on July 1.
