New Barnstable Town Manager Ells Sends Letter to Community

Mark EllsBARNSTABLE – The incoming Barnstable Town Manager has sent a letter to the community, promising to manage the town in an open and honest manner.

Mark Ells, the current Assistant Town Manager, takes over for outgoing Town Manager Tom Lynch on Friday. Ells was appointed by the Town Council in May after a search process that yielded four finalists for the position.

“I will manage [Barnstable] with commitment to public service and in an open and honest way,” Ells said in the town’s newsletter. “I will manage it with compassion for all those in our community that we need to serve.”

Ells says he looks forward to working with residents and the Town Council in addressing the challenges Barnstable faces.

Ells has worked in varying capacities for the Town of Barnstable for the past 27 years, including as the Director of the Department of Public Works.
