New Bedford Whaling Museum to Host Week of Right Whale Activities

New Bedford Whaling MuseumNEW BEDFORD – The endangered North Atlantic right whales have returned to Cape Cod Bay to feed and children and families will be able to learn more about the species during school vacation week.

Right Whale Day returns to the New Bedford Whaling Museum on Monday, April 18 and kicks off a week full of activities.

Monday events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a right whale obstacle course, arts and crafts and an inflatable whale that kids can go inside.

Attendees will also be able to have their picture taken with a replica right whale calf.

Activities in the Jacobs Family Gallery, Cook Memorial Theater or on the Museum Plaza are free. Museum admission prices apply to all other galleries.

From Tuesday, April 19 through Friday, April 22 activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include crafts and fun for families.

Every day during the week there will also be a screening of a free film, “Ocean Frontiers: The Dawn of a New Era in Ocean Stewardship,” along with docent-led tours.
