MARTHA’S VINEYARD – Martha’s Vineyard Hospital has picked its new CEO.

Joseph Woodin was tapped by the hospital for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer and is expected to take the helm of the hospital in May.

Longtime CEO Timothy Walsh will retire after serving 15 years in his leadership role at the hospital.

Woodin comes from Gifford Hospital in Randolph, Vermont, where he was the president and CEO since 2000.

“We feel incredibly fortunate to have found someone of Joe’s caliber and long experience to take over the helm of our hospital,” said Tim Sweet, chairman of the hospital’s search committee and board of trustees.

“Based on Joe’s success in a startlingly similar hospital environment and after meeting with him, we unanimously agreed that Joe is custom-made for the challenges ahead at MVH,” said Sweet.
