New Barnstable Deputy Chief Addresses Town Council

HYANNIS – A 17 year veteran of the Barnstable Police Department has been promoted to Deputy Chief.

In 2018 Cabral was designated as the lieutenant in charge of communications and was instrumental in the merger of Barnstable Police Dispatch with Hyannis Fire Dispatch.

”I appreciate your comments on the dispatch center, because I worked on that personally, both on the administrative and literally helping to pull some wires so I really took allot of pride in that project,” said Deputy Chief Cabral.

Born in Barnstable, Cabral talked about his Hyannis roots.

“I’m a Hyannis kid, the oldest of five, my folks still live on the street where I grew up, I’m here to stay and really here to just look forward and better serve this town,” he said.

For the last eight years Cabral has supervised the overnight shift.

“For the last eight years my job has been to keep the job safe from the hours from midnight to eight”
