New Gaming Options Coming to Cape Cod Mall

HYANNIS – Ryan’s Family Amusements at the Cape Cod Mall is looking to attract more visitors to its gaming areas with the addition of Virtual Reality Gaming and Escape Rooms at the mall this spring.

The company is also in the midst of developing Ten Pin Eatery, a 25,000 square foot multi faceted entertainment complex at the mall.

The 3,300 square foot Virtual Reality and Escape Room space will be located in Macy’s West Wing, where Ryan’s currently operates an arcade and the games in the current arcade will be relocated to the Macy’s space.

Ten Pin will also contain options for bowling, laser tag and dining.

Escape rooms allow a small group of players to work together to solve a challenge in a themed room within an allotted period of time, the game is gaining in popularity across the U.S.

By finding clues and solving puzzles the group works its way out of the space and “wins.” Ryan will offer three of the rooms, “Pharaoh’s Revenge,” “Inventors Workshop,” and “Mayday.”

Virtual reality Games brings players into a three dimensional world allowing them to fully interact with their environment. Players wear headsets with motion detecting sensors which allows them to play in a post apocalyptic wasteland in a single player or team environment. Ryan’s will open two of these rooms, which can accommodate up to four players each.

“Virtual reality and escape rooms are reinventing the way we play,” Said Michael Crowley of Ryan’s. “They transcend all ages and demographics which makes them universally appealing.” Crowley says the games are appropriate for groups of all ages.

The games are expected to open in April, about a month after the opening of Ten Pin Eatery.
