New Health Center in Harwich Expected To Open In November

HARWICH PORT – The second floor of a large office building in Harwich Port, known as the Kennedy Building, is now home to three dozen staff members of Outer Cape Health Services. 

As work progresses, the plan for eighteen examination rooms on the first floor comes closer to fruition.  CEO Patricia Nadle said that a major change in plans caused a small delay. 

“We had approval for the center to be built at a different site, and had to request that the federal government move that loan to a different location, so that took a little time,” said Nadle. 

It is hoped that the ribbon cutting will take place in November. 

While addressing the need for a larger space, chief development officer Kathleen Weiner pointed out that the need for a larger building with more staff has quickly grown and that there is a waiting list of people needing services. 

According to Nadle, the facility will offer a variety of services beyond primary care.  “We’ll have behavioral health, substance use disorder, social services and others.  We’ll have a Quest lab right in the building which will make things a whole lot easier for folks,” she said. 

There will also be a nutrition program, food pantry, community wellness space and more. 

Outer Cape Health’s three locations have a combined 70,000 visits each year by around 17,000 patients.  The new building’s cost is estimated to be $6.5 million.
