BARNSTABLE – Going into the New Year, there will be new leadership on Barnstable Town Council.
Former Town Council Vice President Eric Steinhilber is now the Council President and Council James Crocker, Jr. is the Vice-President.
“We certainly all love this town and want it to be the best it can possibly be and what I would like to continue to bring in the leadership is a unity of purpose, that’s why we’re here, for the Town of Barnstable and everyone that lives in it,” said Steinhilber.
Outgoing President Jessica Rapp-Grassetti was thanked by council members for her leadership and supported Steinhilber for president of the council.
“The president needs a good vice-president, I’ve leaned on him throughout my tenure here and I think he knows the job and I think he would bring honor to it,” said Rapp-Grassetti.
Councilor Jennifer Cullum lost to Steinhilber in the town council vote for president.
She said that she was asked a couple of times to remove her name from consideration for the position.
“I believe I have the right to run and I think that really undermines the whole democratic process, by removing choice,” said Cullum.
