NANTUCKET – The Town of Nantucket is launching a new emergency text alert system for residents that will augment the town’s existing emergency alert services.
After last year’s major storm season brought 5 Nor’easters in 5 weeks, officials decided to acquire a new mass information system to notify residents in the event of emergencies.
The texts will contain information on the nature of the event, what areas to avoid and what precautions or conservation measures residents should take.
