New Nutrition Assistance Tech Comes to Martha’s Vineyard

VINEYARD HAVEN – The Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance visited Martha’s Vineyard this week to deliver and install new technology for nutrition assistance.

A pilot self-service kiosk program at Martha’s Vineyard Community Services will help increase the ability for eligible Islanders to easily apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Health Incentives Program.

MVCS staff were also trained on how to operate the kiosk.

The kiosk will accept web applications for SNAP, allow individuals to log into their DTA accounts to access their case information, and allow individuals to look up their HIP benefit amounts and search for farmer’s markets that accept HIP.

The DTA selected MVCS’ Island Wide Youth Collaborative to be part of the pilot kiosk program.
