New Regulations Take Effect at Sandy Neck Barrier Beach

BARNSTABLE – Changes have been made to the regulations at Sandy Neck Barrier Beach in West Barnstable.

Several regulation changes were discussed at a recent public hearing which included Town Manager Tom Lynch, Sandy Neck Beach Park Manager Nina Coleman and Sandy Neck Advisory Board Chair Richard French.

Changes include adjustments to the hours of beach operations, campfire permit requirements, a ban on the use of generators from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. and allowing the use of midsize spare tires.

There are also requirements of safety helmets for all horseback riders and campers to have a carbon monoxide detector.

Town Manager Tom Lynch approved the regulations which took effect on February 24.
