Cape Community College Launching Social Media and Digital Marketing Program

BARNSTABLE – This fall, Cape Cod Community College is launching a new program designed to give students the education and training necessary in the field of social media and digital marketing.

The new certificate program titled “Social Media and Digital Marketing,” starts September 3rd at the College and applications are currently being accepted.

Students who enroll in the program will be able to graduate in just nine months with full-time enrollment and will gain hands-on experience through individualized internships in the community.

“The program has a built in internship into the class, so every student who goes into the social media and digital marketing program is going to get an individualized internship in the field,” said Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing for the College, Patrick Stone.

Classes in the program include Human Communication, English Composition, Mass Communication, Journalism, Web Authoring, Graphic Tools, Computer Graphics, and Social Media Marketing.

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment in media and communication occupations is projected to grow over the next five years, with increased demand by businesses to create, translate, and disseminate information via web-based platforms.

The median wage for media and communications occupations is well-above the national average, reported at more than $56,000 as of 2017.

“It’s really important for business and for different organizations to leverage those channels to be able to communicate with their audiences and share really important information and share message their audiences want to engage with,” continued Stone.

“It helps build their business up, their brands up and so forth.”

Space is limited in the program for students who wish to complete by May 2020.

To apply to the program, prospective students can complete the College’s Admissions Application at Capecod.edu/admissions or email [email protected] for further question on how to enroll.
