New Year’s Polar Plunges to Benefit Local Organizations

HYANNIS – The New Year is just under two weeks away and several Cape Codders are getting ready to take a cold dip to benefit local organizations.

Polar Plunges will be held at five local beaches on New Year’s Day:

  • Smuggler’s Beach, Yarmouth at noon. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Yarmouth & Council on Aging. $15 for plungers.
  • Red River Beach, Harwich Port at 11 a.m. Proceeds benefit Harwich PTO and the Cape Wellness Collaborative. Donations are accepted at the event.
  • Provincetown Harbor at 11 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Center for Coastal Studies. $50 for plungers and includes a t-shirt and a party. To register, visit ptownevents.com.
  • Loop Beach, Cotuit at noon. Proceeds benefit the family of local 10-year-old Avery Brooks, who is battling leukemia. Donations are also accepted at polarplungecapecod.com.
  • Town Neck Beach, Sandwich at noon. Proceeds benefit Compassionate Care ALS. The cost is $20 to register and higher donations are graciously accepted. To register or make donations, visit ccals.org.
