Sharks Close Newcomb Hollow, Head of the Meadow Beaches

WELLFLEET – Officials closed Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet and Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro Wednesday morning due to shark activity.

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Sharktivity app, Newcomb Hollow was closed to swimming around 10:15 a.m. after a buoy was pinged by a tagged great white shark. It was the fourth straight day that the beach was closed for a period due to the presence of sharks.

Head of the Meadow Beach was also closed Wednesday morning after a confirmed shark sighting sometime after 10:30 a.m.

The beaches were closed for at least an hour, pending any further detections or sightings.
