Nantucket Historical Association Executive Director to Retire

billNANTUCKET – The Board of Trustees of the Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) has announced that Dr. William Tramposch will retire from his position as Gosnell Executive Director in the Spring of 2017.

During his tenure of nearly 11 years, Tramposch increased the NHA’s endowment by 280 percent, provided much-needed staff housing, restored a number of iconic sites including Greater Light and offered a variety of new programs ranging from free public talks and the popular fourth grade sleepover series.

Sherlund said that thanks to Tramposch’s leadership, the NHA has introduced a number of diversity offerings and have greatly expanded their oral history reach.

A national search for his successor will begin shortly as Tramposch said that he and his family will be moving to California to be closer to his extended family.

Tramposch said that holding the position of Gosnell Executive Director of the NHA was the highlight of his career and that it was the ideal job for him.

He added that the board, staff and supporters and friends of the NHA will add vibrancy to the association that will ensure its success over the years ahead.

The NHA’s mission is to tell the inspiring stories of Nantucket through its collections, programs and properties.
