NHA Offers Free Admission to Historic Sites

Old MillNANTUCKET – The Nantucket Historical Association is offering free admission to its historic sites on June 4 and 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in celebration of Nantucket Preservation Month.

On both days, visitors will have free access to the Fire Hose Cart House, Greater Light, Old Gaol and Oldest House.

The Nantucket Historical Association tells the inspiring stories of Nantucket through its collections, programs and properties.

Staff at the NHA said that they are thrilled to partner with the NPT during Nantucket’s June Preservation Month and highlight the array of historic sites and stories that the NHA offers to the public on a daily basis.

While National Preservation Month is usually celebrated in May, the Nantucket Preservation Trust is celebrating Nantucket’s Preservation Month in June when more visitors are on the island and are able to participate in the many offerings from local island businesses and non-profit organizations.

The Nantucket Preservation Trust took the initiative to coordinate Nantucket Preservation Month to achieve the goal of educating, inspiring and encouraging historic preservation across the island by involving all aspects of the community.

Through the support of local business and organizations and the hope is that the month-long celebration will engage the island’s community and draw attention to the important cause of preservation.
