NHA Presents Moby-Dick Marathon Reading October 21-23

moby-dick-bookNANTUCKET – The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is presenting the Moby-Dick Marathon reading beginning on October 21 at noon and ending around 2 p.m. on October 23.

Instead of a continuous reading throughout the night, this year’s Moby-Dick Marathon will take place over the span of three days, with a break each evening.

Around 90 participants will take turns reading aloud all 135 chapters plus an epilogue from Herman Melville’s classic American novel “Moby-Dick; Or, The Whale”.

The reading will begin at the Nantucket Antheneum on October 21 at noon and move to the Whaling Museum at 6 p.m. on the same evening, concluding at 10 p.m.

It will reconvene at the Atheneum on October 22 at 10 a.m. and last until 9 p.m. that day.

The final day of the reading will take place on October 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Over the course of the evening, chapters will be read by members of the Nantucket community, including teachers, students, writers, historians, poets, actors and more.

Admission for the Moby-Dick Marathon is free and open to the public.
