HYANNIS – Students from all over Cape Cod will test their skills when the Cape Symphony & Conservatory pair up for their 2018 Music Memory event.
The orchestra will play small selections of one of 16 pieces and the students will identify the work and composer – sometimes within a just a couple of notes.
Thirty-three teams from 13 schools will be attending this year’s concert at Cape Cod Church in East Falmouth, while another five will live-stream the event at their respective schools.
Some of the towns with schools attending live include Barnstable, Brewster, Chatham, Dennis-Yarmouth, Falmouth, Orleans, Sandwich, and Truro.
The nationally-recognized Music Memory curriculum provides students in 2nd through 8th grade an in-depth study of 12-16 selected compositions each year. The music chosen is from the five historical periods: Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary.
The event will take place on Wednesday, May 30th at 11 AM.
Cape Symphony, led by Artistic Director and Conductor Jung-Ho Pak, are known state wide for their performances of popular hits to magnificent classics, highlighting hidden gems and putting a new twist on standards, the emphasis is always on fun, surprises, and beautiful music.
