HYANNIS – NOAA Fisheries is accepting public comment on a plan to allow recreational fishing of black sea bass during the month February.

A December 2016 stock assessment of the fish determined it is not overfished and the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission have approved recommendations to allow a 15 fish limit and a 12.5-inch minimum size for the additional season.

Black Sea Bass is a popular Cape Cod recreational fishery.

Comments will be accepted through January 23 and can be made online by clicking here. They can also be mailed to John Bullard, Regional Administrator, National Marine Fisheries Service, 55 Great Republic Drive, Gloucester, MA 01930. Mark on the outside of the envelope: “Comments on the Proposed Rule for 2018 Black Sea Bass February Recreational Fishery.”
