HYANNIS – The Cape Symphony’s chamber music ensemble Nth Degree returns for its third performance later this month.
The concert, “Made in France” features music from French composers Gabriel Faure, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel.
Their lives spanned the time period of the Paris World’s Fair in 1889 through the First World War.
The three composers became linked professionally as Fauré taught Ravel at the Paris Conservatory, and later founded the Société Nationale de Musique that helped launched Debussy’s career.
Ravel and Debussy’s “keen sense of ability to write textures and colors” allowed the two composers to explore the sounds and abilities of instruments in a new way.
This will translate into a performance that will pop with vibrancy and energy.
Equally as vibrant and energetic are the six musicians that will perform three powerful pieces.
Pianist Chung-Hsi Hsieh, cellist Danielle Cho and harpist Amanda Romano will join Cape Symphony principal violist Anya Shemetyeva and principal flutist Zachary Sheets in presenting Debussy’s “Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp,” Ravel’s “Piano Trio in A Minor” and Fauré’s “Piano Quartet No. 2.”
The third concert of “The Revolutionaries” season, Made in France will take place on Friday, March 24 at 7:30PM at the John Wesley Methodist Church in Falmouth or on Sunday, March 26 at 3:00PM at the First Congregational Church in Chatham.
Tickets are $35 each and are all general admission.
