“We’ve done things like had the head of decommissioning for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission come in and explain to us how they approach it. We have had key officials from the state of Vermont come in and explain to us what their experiences has been in Vermont, and what we have also done [is] related research on issues related to the technology [of the plant]”, said Sean Mullin, Panel Co-Chair of NDCAP.

The meeting will take place on May 17th at the Plymouth Community Intermediate School located at, 117 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, 02360 from 6:30-8:30p.m.

Mullin said that some of the issues that will be brought up during the meeting may include “how do we organize ourselves in the Commonwealth to properly work with as a partner Entergy over the coming years to make sure that first the decommissioning is safe, second, that the economic impacts to the de-commissioning can be mitigated to the greatest extent possible, and third, the re-use of this beautiful, pristine land that will need to be cleaned up on Cape Cod Bay.”

NDCAP was established to serve as a conduit for public information and education to encourage community involvement in matters related to the decommissioning of Pilgrim.
