Oak Bluffs Receives State Funds for Erosion Repair

Oak Bluffs Police/CWN

BOSTON – The town of Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard will be receiving $100,000 in state grant money, the funds will be used to make repairs to significant erosion along East Chop.

A revetment dating back to the 1930’s no longer provides adequate protection for the area, and as the bank has eroded, the damage has required the road along East Chop to be closed to most traffic.

Officials with the town say the money will be used to support the permitting process for significant amounts of corrective measures.

The funding is part of a larger statewide grant program of $10 million for seawall and dam projects.
