MARTHA’S VINEYARD – The White House yesterday confirmed that President Obama and family will once again vacation on Martha’s Vineyard.
The Obamas will stay in Chilmark from August 9th until the 24th.
The first family has vacationed on the Vineyard every year since 2008, with the exception of 2012.
Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce CEO Nancy Gardella said the fact that the President is visiting is exciting.
“We’re delighted the First Family has chosen Martha’s Vineyard again and we think it’s great not only for the island but the state of Massachusetts and shows what a terrific place this is to vacation,” she said.
“The truth is, it’s good for business,” she said.
While the island is already busy in August, Gardella said, she expects the visit will draw day trippers hoping they might get to see the President during his vacation.
“Certainly I think people who are here are hopeful they might get a glimpse of the first family,” she said.
