Ocean Debris Art Installation Opens in Orleans June 11

cape cod chamberORLEANS – A temporary art installation will seek to educate the public on the destructive power of ocean debris.

The art was created from recyclables by Nauset Regional Middle School students and will be at Orleans Village Center for a week.

The installation is the next chapter in Creative Placemaking for Orleans by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

The art was created by students in response to the whale sculpture on Cove Road which the Chamber commissioned and gifted to the town last year.

The opening event for the art installation is on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the art will remain at the Center until June 19.

The project was selected for a $10,000 grant by donorschoose.org from the Paul G. Allen family foundation’s Student Innovation Challenge.

The installation extends from Main Street to Cove Road, along the Theresa’s Way Walking Path.
