Ocean Protection Advocacy Kids to Test Cape Waters After Receiving Donation

MILTON – An environmental education and youth leadership organization is helping to support the efforts of Ocean Protection Advocacy Kids, Inc.

EarthEcho International, which was founded by explorer and environmental advocate Philippe Cousteau Jr., has made a donation of water quality test kits to OPAK through the EarthEcho Water Challenge.

OPAK, a Milton-based organization, works to empower the next generation of water scientists and stewards.

The donated test kits will enable young people working with the organization to sample the waters of Cape Cod for a core set of water quality parameters including temperature, acidity, clarity and dissolved oxygen.

The EarthEcho Water Challenge is an international education and outreach program that increases public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by having citizens conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies.

Program participants will share their water quality data through the challenge global database, contributing to a network of water quality data collected by 1.5 million people from more than 140 countries.

The data gathered will be used to help inform actions to protect local water resources.
