COTUIT – A one-woman show opens at Cotuit Center for the Arts next month.
“Brittany Loves Lucy” will run from July 11 to 28 in the Black Box Theater. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
Brittany Halls takes on every character and every line of I Love Lucy’s infamous “Lucy Does a TV Commercial” episode in which Lucy finagles her way onto Ricky’s television show and has too many spoonfuls of the alcohol-filled Vitameatavegamin.
With a few simple set pieces and props, the world of “I Love Lucy” is recreated – reminding the audience that the comedy is timeless.
Halls is a New York-based actor and improviser who hails from Boston.
“Lucy Does a TV Commercial” originally aired in May 1952 and is considered the show’s most famous episode. It ranks No. 2 in TV Guide’s “100 Greatest Episodes of All Time in 1997, and No. 4 on the 2009 list.
Tickets are $20, $15 for members.
