Online Fund Established for Victim of Helicopter Crash

Crash Victim

Tyra Pacheco

CHATHAM – After suffering multiple injuries in a helicopter crash at Crows Pond in Chatham last week, Tyra Pacheco has received multiple surgeries to her ribs, spine, wrist, ankle at Mass General Hospital.

It’s racked up what her friend Christine Richards called an “exorbitant” medical bill, one that will continue to grow as she recovers.

But Pacheco is a well-known real estate photographer whose work is widely admired by her clients throughout the region. And that network just might save her family’s financial standing from obliteration.

Richards and others have set up a GoFundMe account for Pacheco which has already raised about $20,000.

A friend of over three years, Richards said Pacheco is a supportive mother of three and a hard working role model.

Once Pacheco returns home from Mass General, her home will have to be altered in order to comply with some of her medical needs.

One of her children is about to enter college in the fall, and Richards said the medical bills would be overwhelming for her family to handle.

The pilot of the helicopter, 48 year old John Ryan from Scituate, was also seriously injured in the accident.

According to Richards, he had worked with Pacheco many times in the past. There is currently no information on his condition.
