BARNSTABLE – The Barnstable County Department of Human Services has put together a new health and wellness directory covering the entire county.
The website, found at www.barnstable.ma.networkofcare.org/ph, builds on the department’s years-long work on providing a comprehensive guide to health services on the Cape.
Searchable categories include food, health, housing, employment, counseling, insurance, substance abuse and senior care. The website also allows for customizable keyword searches.
The website allows certain types of health services on Cape Cod to be compared with analysis data of other areas.
It also features locations, website listings and a mapping feature which explains how to navigate to care centers using public transportation.
County Director of Human Services Beth Albert said her department has often found that Cape Codders often don’t know where to begin when looking for services.
“It is our attempt to compile this information and make sure it is updated,” Albert said. “It’s really an efficiency for smaller organizations and members of the public to make access to this information easier.”
Albert said policy makers can also use the website to bring complicated community health issues into focus.
There is also a general health news section which details community service updates and laws.
